Parliament celebrates 400-year milestone

Today is an historic milestone — the 400th anniversary of the island's Parliament, which first convened at St Peter's Church in St George. A re-creation of the inaugural session under the Governor, Nathaniel Butler, which came with a daylong sermon and 15 Acts passed, had to be called off because of Covid-19. St Peter’s to jump into the 21st century with laser map

A team of university researchers are to use a high-tech laser scanner to map Bermuda's oldest church, in partnership with the Bermuda National Trust. An infestation of termites is being tackled at the hall next to Bermuda's oldest church. Interior woodwork, skirting boards and door frames were plagued by the pest in the church hall at St Peter's Anglican Church, in the Town of St George. Good Friday Walk To Calvary

Congregations from the St. George’s churches marked Good Friday by staging their annual reenactment of Jesus’ crucifixion. St Peter’s Church to charge $2 entrance fee

A $2 entrance fee has been imposed at Bermuda's oldest church, The Royal Gazette can reveal. Annual service honours slave pilot Darrell

A memorial service to honour former slave and ship's pilot James “Jemmy” Darrell was held in St George's at the weekend. Mr Darrell piloted the Royal Navy warship HMS Resolution to its mooring near Tobacco Bay in 1795 while still enslaved.
